💊 Ordering Repeat Prescriptions
You can order your repeat prescriptions by:
- Using the NHS App
- By completing your re-order slip and posting it through the surgery letterbox.
- Request through Accurx
- Or email us at gmicb-hmr.heywoodhealth@nhs.net with your name, date of birth/ address and the name of the medication you need.
- To nominate/change your pharmacy, you can contact the pharmacy, change it in the NHS App or inform us via email.
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the telephone.
Please allow 2 working days for prescriptions to be processed by the Surgery. We advise to order 7-9 days before your medication runs out.
**Please note if you order your medication too early, your request may get rejected.
💊 Collecting Your Prescription
You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 3 to 5 working days after you have ordered it.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- By using the NHS app
- At the GP practice
- At any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

📃 Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.
For any medication queries, please contact us via email, Accurx or phone the Surgery.
🚮 What to do with old medicines
Take any old medications back to the pharmacy to dispose of.
Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

❓Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local Pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information about your medicine. Including possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

Prescription Prepayment Certificates and Exemptions💷
You could be entitled to free NHS prescriptions or help with NHS costs depending on your circumstances.

Pre-payment Certificates (PPC)
If you regularly pay prescription charges, a PPC could save you money. The PPC covers your NHS prescriptions for a set price
- The 3-month PPC will save you money if you need more than 3 items in 3 months.
- The 12-month PPC will save you money if you need more than 11 items in 12 months.
- The hormone replacement therapy (HRT) PPC will save you money if you need more than 2 HRT items in a year.

Pharmacy First Service🤧
Pharmacists can offer advice on medicines for minor illnesses. Only if appropriate, they are able to give some prescription-only medicines without seeing the GP.
The Pharmacy First Service covers the below illnesses. The Surgery can refer you to the Pharmacy or you contact the Pharmacy directly to get an appointment.

Many Pharmacies are open until late and at weekends.
